What is Be-Sfe?

Be-Sfe is a file encryption app. You can use it to organise and store and content which you want encrypted. In addition, Be-Sfe backs up your data into your own cloud drive. Hence you can use it as a way to protect your cloud data with an additional layer of encryption.

How can I be sure that Be-Sfe is safe?

Be-Sfe app is vetted via Apple’s appstore and Google’s Playstore for security breaches and privacy concerns before it can be listed. Be-Sfe is an offline app that exists only in your phone with the ability to backup towards your own Apple iCloud or Google’s Drive. The data is encrypted with a strong AES-256 bit encryption.

What type of data can I store in the Be-Sfe app?

Anything can be stored in Be-Sfe (e.g. text, photos, videos, sound clips, word, powerpoint, excel, certificates, etc). Be-Sfe will simply encrypt the attached files with AES-256 bit encryption.

How does Be-Sfe work?

Contents are organised into Safe > Folders > Files. We have created a SAMPLE Safe for you which you can use. You can also create/rename your own unlimited number of Safes. In each Safe, you can further create/rename your own Folders. In each Folder you can create your Files to store your important contents.

If you insert a password when you create a Safe, this Safe will be encrypted and locked each time you exit this SAFE.

If no password is created, then this Safe will not be encrypted/locked when you exit this Safe. You can insert a password to an unlocked Safe later.

Can I create my own Safe?

You can create an unlimited number of Safes in Be-Sfe. Each Safe can have its own unique password.

How many Folders and Files can I have within each Safe?

Unlimited.

Can I move my Folders or Files from one Safe to another?

Yes.

What files can be read by Be-Sfe?

Be-Sfe does not come with a reader, it uses the readers that are present in your phone. You may therefore encrypt anything in Be-Sfe. Do take note that some readers will store an unencrypted copy in a temporary directory of the reader’s app. So do take care to delete the files in the temporary folders of the reader’s app after opening them from Be-Sfe.

Add password?

In the Safe menu page, choose the Edit icon.
Then you can insert a new password.
Then click SAVE on the top right.

Forgot password?

To ensure maximum privacy and maximum data protection, Be-Sfe never stores and can never access your password. The password exists only in your encrypted data.
There are no servers keeping your password.

Due to this zero-knowledge policy, Be-Sfe is also unable to reset password or retrieve data if the password is forgotten.

You are recommended to store a physical copy of your password somewhere safe.

Remove password?

You will not be able to remove a password for an encrypted Safe. You can only change the password for an encrypted vault. If you want to have your encrypted content become unencrypted, create a new Safe without password. Then move the contents from your encrypted Safe into the unencrypted Safe.

Are all files encrypted/locked?

Yes, IF a password is provided, the files in a Safe is encrypted/locked. If no password is used to encrypt the Safe, then the files will not be encrypted.

How to delete all data

In the Safe menu page, choose the Edit icon. Next, at the top right corner of the screen, choose Delete icon. Please note that the Safe is not-recoverable once it is deleted. The data in the cloud storage will also be deleted.

What happens if I change phone/device?

Install the Be-Sfe app into the new phone. Choose to sync with the same cloud storage that you sync with in the older phone/device. The app will do the rest, and retrieve all your data into the new phone/device.

Can I export my data?

Yes. When you open the file, you can share the contents in the file.

Do I need internet ?

The app will work without internet access. However, the app will need internet access if you want to sync the data with your cloud storage.

Can I use or cancel fingerprint/biometric?

Yes. The app will use the fingerprint/biometric setup in your phone/device. You can also remove biometric. Go to the EDIT menu and slide the Biometric on or off. Then key in your existing SAFE's password and click SAVE on the top right.

Files opened with other phone apps

Be-Sfe serves as a secure storage facility for you. When you choose to open your Safe contents, the files are DECRYPTED and then opened with your 3rd party apps in your phone (such as Adobe Acrobat, WPS Office). A copy of your contents may be saved in the 3rd party apps. You will have to delete these copies if you want security for your contents.

On the same note, if you make changes to your contents using the 3rd party app, these changes are within your 3rd party app only. To save a copy of the changed file, reattach the edited file into your Be-Sfe File.

What if I need to edit a file stored in Be-Sfe?

Be-Sfe uses the generic file reader from your phone. So if you edit a file, then you will need to reattach the updated file into Be-Sfe.

How to back up to Google Drive or Apple iCloud?

In the main menu, select Settings icon. Next, input your cloud storage details. Ensure that there is internet access.

Can I backup to both Google Drive and iCloud

No.

You can only back up to one Cloud service provider.
It is recommended that you choose iCloud if you use iPhone and use Google Drive if you use an Android phone, as the app sync with your cloud drive works best in this combination.

Will the data in Google Drive or iCloud be deleted if I delete my Be-Sfe App?

No. To delete your data that is backed up in the cloud, you can either delete the SAFE in the app, then wait for synchronisation of your cloud drive. Alternatively, go to your cloud drive, look for the Be-SfeAppData-DoNotDelete Folder and delete the folder.

How do I retrieve data from my cloud storage ?

Install the Be-Sfe app. Then choose to sync with your cloud storage.
